Hearth started as the app that would answer those questions instead of dodging them.
It is made by one developer with AI assistance — not a startup with a research division. There is no advisory board and no clinician signing off on your routine. What there is: a scan that tells you what it can actually see, five phases that wait until you are ready for the next, and citations wherever the evidence exists to cite.

Some steps in your routine carry a citation — the paper, the design, what it actually found. Others carry nothing, because nothing good has been published on them. We would rather show you a gap than fill it with a study that does not exist.

No borrowed authority
Nobody here is a dermatologist, and no dermatologist reviews your routine. Products carry no badges, no endorsements and no affiliate links, because we cannot substantiate any of those. What a scan can tell you, it tells you. What it cannot, it says it cannot.
Privacy as infrastructure
Your scan photo is never stored — it is analysed in memory and discarded when the scan finishes, so there is nothing to leak or to sell. No ad business, no data brokering. Privacy is not a feature we added; it is how the architecture is designed.

One person, with AI assistance
Hearth is built and maintained by one developer, working with AI coding tools. There is no team, no advisory board and no formulations department. If something here is wrong, it is one person's to fix.
No clinical oversight
No dermatologist reviews the routines, the phases, or the product suggestions. Nothing in this app is a medical assessment and nothing in it is checked by a clinician before it reaches you. That is why it describes visible appearance and stops there — and why it tells you to see a dermatologist for anything that looks like it needs one.
Recommendations from published research
The routine structure — barrier first, one active at a time, escalate on tolerance — comes from published dermatology literature, and the steps that have supporting evidence show it to you with the citation attached. Where a claim has no good evidence behind it, the app declines to make it rather than reaching for a vaguer version.
The model is not an authority either
The scan is a vision model reading a photograph. It is confident about some things and not others, so it returns a confidence figure and a list of what it could not read, and the score excludes anything it could not see rather than guessing a middle value.
